Jason Elster is a former BigLaw Shareholder who now provides concierge legal services to clients with trademark, domain name, and dispute needs. Jason is a trial lawyer with experience in commercial litigation, trademark infringement, and alternative dispute resolution, as well as risk mitigation, dispute avoidance, and negotiations. He resolves disputes throughout the brand ecosystem, including litigating to defend or to assert intellectual property rights, enforcing commercial obligations, and developing creative strategies to resolve disputes before they grow into lawsuits. After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center, he spent sixteen years as a litigator at Greenberg Traurig, LLP where he worked with Paul McGrady in all manner of trademark and domain name disputes. Jason is also a member of INTA’s Enforcement Committee. Jason takes pride in his practical approach to resolving his clients’ disputes.

Paul McGrady is an innovator in the intellectual property space who enjoys a nationwide reputation as the go-to professional for legal work at the intersection of information technology and intellectual property, with special emphasis on trademarks and domain names. Paul and his partner Jason Elster, whom he met during their time at Greenberg Traurig, founded Elster & McGrady in 2023 and have since been providing boutique-level attention to their clients’ matters while utilizing their BigLaw skillsets. Paul’s mix of BigLaw and in-house experience makes him a practical problem solver and capable of participating in the creative process with his clients. His clients include many globally famous brands. Paul is the author of several books on Intellectual Property published by LexisNexis. He is a proud member of ICANN’s GNSO Council in the Non-Contracted Parties House. He is also a former member of INTA’s Board of Directors and a past chair of INTA’s Internet Committee.

Edie Holland is a trademark attorney with twenty years of legal experience across an array of industries and practice groups. Her diverse professional experiences enable her to provide clients with practical insights and sensible solutions that go beyond the scope of intellectual property. Edie approaches each matter holistically, providing E&M clients with big picture strategy and efficient tactics to protect their brands. She prides herself on providing boutique-level service to every engagement. Outside of work, Edie spends most of her time attending her sons’ sporting events, watching movies, reading Erik Larson books, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ella McElwaine joined Elster & McGrady after graduating from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law where she completed the Intellectual Property JD Law Concentration program and served as the Notes Editor for IDEA: The Law Review of the Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property. After law school, Ella immediately brought her considerable talents to focus on the trademarks, copyrights, and domain names. At Elster & McGrady, Ella represents clients in all parts of the brand ecosystem, from prosecuting trademark applications to defending rights holders in federal litigation. Ella is active with the International Trademark Association (INTA) and serves on INTA’s Technology Transformation committee.

Graduated from Ohio Northern University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and studied Marketing. She joined Elster & McGrady as an executive assistant, where she assists with client coordination, managing attorney schedules, and providing overall administrative support. Elizabeth leverages her attention to detail to enhance the efficiency and quality of legal work performed by the office and quickly made herself indispensable to the team. When she is not working, Elizabeth enjoys reading, shopping at consignment stores, & attending live shows.

Tamara Hollis

As Office Manager, Tamara draws on her impressive background and skill set to assist with a truly broad array of activities at Elster & McGrady. Tamara’s legal experience, first as a legal assistant and then patent paralegal, make her exceptionally well-suited to enhancing the operation and performance of the office. She is a genuine “people person” who gets satisfaction from helping the team provide top-tier legal services to the firm’s clients. In her off time, Tamara enjoys teaching dance, working out, and exploring the city with her family.

KAREN L. DAY

Karen is a Certified Paralegal with over 35 years of legal experience specializing in intellectual property. Karen spent the majority of her career at the world's largest privately owned software company, SAS Institute Inc. where she was responsible for trademark and domain strategy. Serving as SAS’s Registry Operations Manager, she oversaw all matters related to the operation of three top level domain registries .SAS, .JMP, and .ANALYTICS.
Karen joined Elster & McGrady LLC in the summer of 2025 to assist with the firm's new gTLD applicant program and to provide services for other firm clients navigating the complexities of ICANN application and contracting processes.
Beginning in 2015, Karen has been extensively involved in the ICANN policy making process, serving as a member of the Subsequent Procedures Leadership Team and as an officer & board member of both the gTLD Registries Stakeholder Group (rysg.info) and the .BRAND Registry Group (brandregistrygroup.org) in various capacities. Karen continues to hold leadership positions with various ICANN groups, including Treasurer of the RySG, Special Advisor to the Board of the Brand Registry Group, chairing the GNSO Standing Selection Committee, and serving on the Subsequent Procedures IRT. Karen was elected to serve as the RySG Delegate to the NomCom for a two-year term beginning at AGM 2025.
